We conduct awareness raising and knowledge exchange event and interaction with Indigenous Peoples

Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) is the one and only umbrella organization of all the Indigenous Peoples of Nepal. It was established in 1991. Main objective of NEFIN is to safeguard Indigenous Peoples’ rights. It has national and international chapters namely Province Coordination Councils (PCCs) in all 7 provinces, District Coordination Councils (DCCs) in 72 districts, more than 3,000 Village Coordinating Councils (VCCs), 13 affiliated federations of Indigenous journalists, Indigenous youth, students, film maker, lawyer etc., and abroad-chapters in more than 22 countries.

NEFIN started “NEFIN Climate Change Partnership Program” in 2009 with the objective of getting recognition and optimization of Indigenous Peoples contribution in climate actions. In accordance with its objectives NEFIN Climate Change Program undertakes advocacy, information dissemination, awareness raising and capacity building activities for and with Indigenous Peoples including of Indigenous women and youth, in climate action, biodiversity, natural resource management and other so-called development work.

NEFIN Climate Change Program works in partnership with communities, national and international organizations of Indigenous Peoples and the organizations working for Indigenous Peoples. It follows policy formulation processes in the country and also the United Nations negotiations including United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Green Climate Fund (GCF), for the recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ contribution and protection of their rights. NEFIN Climate Change Program puts its effort to educate people about distinct contexts and contributions of Indigenous Peoples in maintaining social and environmental integrity with overall wellbeing of human and all being in the planet Earth.
